Bedard out after July shoulder surgery

AI reasoning

Chicago opens without new captain Connor Bedard, who had shoulder surgery in July on a four-month timeline and is not close to practising, per Jeff Blashill. Vegas went 39-26-17 and reached the Cup Final before losing to Carolina in six, and hosts the opener at T-Mobile Arena with Eichel, Stone and Marner intact against a Blackhawks group that finished 29-39-14. Books sit -250 to -275; the pick tracks that price rather than beating it.
